Lovingly referred to as my ‘gay job’,
I founded PrideWorks and served as
the Board President for four years.
What started as an email to see if Sherwin-Williams could be in the Chicago Pride Parade, resulted in a corporate-wide movement to establish the company’s first LGBTQ+ employee resource group. For over a year, I worked with our HR Director of Culture to organize, brand and strategize. My in-house team was a huge help, volunteering to work on logos, videos and our mission statement. Then in 2020, just when we officially launched, the pandemic happened. Instead of feeling discouraged, we got creative and had virtual forums and organized discussions through TEAMS. There was a palpable sense of excitement that pulsed through the 70,000+ employee corporation. PrideWorks quickly became the largest employee group in the 150-year history of the company. With over 35 chapters world wide and 1500+ members, this is one of my proudest achievements in my tenure at Sherwin-Williams.
National Coming Out Day
I put together an annual video every year. So many people continued to participate!
